The HTC fans in India have a reason to rejoice. Well, the Taiwanese tech firm seems to have adopted the trend followed by the Indian based vendors of launching new smartphones via online retailers.

The latest offering from the company, a new entry-level smartphone dubbed Desire U with dual SIM support is now available on Flipkart for Rs 13,499. As a promotional offer, Flipkart is offering 5 percent discount on all smartphones and this is applicable even on Desire U as well.

HTC Desire U was initially launched for the Taiwanese market in January. Packing a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels, the device flaunts a 1GHz single-core processor and 512MB RAM.

Flavored with Android 4.0 ICS operating system, the Desire U also brings on board a 5-megapixel rear camera, 4GB inbuilt storage and support up to 32GB additional storage. It also houses connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G along with a 1,650 mAh battery.

When it comes to software features, Desire U is no different from the other HTC smartphones and incorporates Beats Audio, which offers enhanced audio experience to the music enthusiasts, Sense UI and more.

Analyzing the specifications of HTC Desire U and its price point, it is quite clear that the offering is expensive at Rs 13,499, while there are numerous other smartphones in the sub Rs 11,000 price range with improved aspects like dual/quad-core processor, front camera and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
